A Place I Like

village Velja glavaWhile hiking in the Župske mountains, we stumbled upon a mill that resists the ravages of time in the village Velja glava, municipality Aleksandrovac. We were surprised to see inside a lady in her eight decade, Mrs. Dragica Filipović, who is successfully grinding flour to the locals of this village and surrounding villages in a traditional way, which is hundreds of years old, and very hard to find these days. What a joy!

Zeljko.Boban.2This was my first time to visit this scenic and amazing town of Grožnjan. And what a lovely surprise, a day of Ex Tempore! Hundreds of artists, painters, creative persons all around and through every little charmy streets, it was incredible and wonderful. Grožnjan is often called the most artistic place in whole Istria, and you know what, it's a true. Local music everywhere, you can feel festivity and you feel very special...
Wines, truffles, local products, even mandarines from Neretva, honey...
Scenic town in a scenic surround!

IMG 20200816 154858High on the mountain (Vranica), far away from the nearest small town (Fojnica), and hidden in the middle of the country (Bosnia and Herzegovina), Prokoško Lake is a well preserved pearl, which testifies possibility of achieving harmony between the nature and buildings. Here, natural and physical structures are part of a unique landscape, so that traditional vernacular architecture revives and complements the context of this small part of the Dinaric massif. A specific landscape with the fragmented physical structure of wooden cottages, scattered on the lake shores, evoks a kind of romantic and nostalgic feeling towards the archetypal habitat, which regardless of the time distance, forms a part of an emotional homeland.

Lena StefanouThe photograph was taken in the mountainous village of Platanos on the Greek island of Samos in the Aegean Sea. It is a village surrounded by red soil sources. In the past the inhabitants used to paint their houses red in the summer months, so it was almost invisible from far away, as it was becoming one with the ground. Yet, in autumn when it started raining, the soil washed off from the houses and the village's houses were visible again.

I find it beautiful because it combines all earthy elements (wood, stone, soil) with traditional architecture and the sunset is just additional luxury!
