Sarajevo SEE Heritage Network Board meeting
report/photo/

date October 22, 2016
place Sarajevo, Serbia
topic SEE Heritage Network & Europa Nostra

The meeting began on Saturday, 22 October in Sarajevo. A place of a meeting was chosen due to the awarding prize ceremony. Videlicet, the National Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina was awarded by the Europa Nostra Heritage Prize and SEE Heritage network wanted to support colleagues from this Museum by joining the ceremony.

While there, it was unavoidable to meet various dear associates from heritage field. However, the meeting with Europa Nostra secretary general Sneska Quaedvlieg-Mihailovic had been planned in advance. Along with Ms Sneska, SEE Heritage board members were privileged to have Ms Irina Subotic’s from Evropa Nostra Srbija present on this meeting too.

Even though, SEE Heritage is a member of the European Heritage Alliance 3.3, this meeting was valuable because it was an excellent opportunity to focus the discussion only to SEEH network.

The topics discussed with Ms Sneska Quaedvlieg-Mihailovic:

  • Europa Nostra in terms of lobbying cultural heritage
  • How to strengthen the Network and make it more visible – Small Awards for the Region
  • Meeting the 2018 – Year of European Cultural Heritage

As expected, it was very valuable to meet Ms Sneska and Ms Irina and discuss plans and interesting topics for the SEE Heritage network. Their ideas and shared experienced were very useful, and all present parties felt satisfied after this meeting.

Following Ms Sneska’s leaving, SEE Heritage board members continued with their meeting and subjects related to the action plan and activities of the network.

Both meetings were very productive, most probably not only because of the participants, but also because of the magnificent CHwB office. It is so good to have friends and members that are willing to share their spaces, knowledge and time.

A date and a place of the annual SEE Heritage meeting have been decided – Tirana, mid December 2016.
