Summer Seminar was organized in cooperation between University of Hildesheim (Germany), UNESCO Chair in Cultural Policy and Management, University of Arts in Belgrade (Serbia), Europa Nostra Serbia and SEE Heritage Network and is funded by DAAD. It lasted for two weeks 12 – 24 September 2021.
During the seminar, monuments dedicated to the victims of the Second World War were examined. The accent of the seminar was not on the aesthetics of these monuments, which gained global attention recently. The seminar investigated monuments and practices related to these monuments from various angles, including those which explore the viewpoints of performativity of memory and performing heritage. The participants of the seminar were students from the University of Hildesheim, students from the UNESCO Department of the University of Arts in Belgrade and experts that are dealing with history and heritage from the countries of Southeast Europe.
