Cultural Heritage without Borders is pleased to announce launch of new project: Bridges to the Future - Conservation, sovaldi Science, store Technology & Education in Stolac. Project is funded by European Union and implemented in partnership with foundation “Tecnalia” from Spain, association of artists “Deblokada” from Sarajevo and Tourist association “Stari grad” from Stolac. The project was approved under the EU program entitled “Pilot scheme for preserving and restoring cultural heritage in conflict areas.”

The overal objective is to create a better understanding of the rehabilitated city, where the intimate individual security is reached through experiencing a better future for Stolac with its unharmed and intact cultural heritage assets. The specific objective is to develop an innovative multidimensional digital model that will be used to teaching, recording, and learning about conservation/restoration techniques. This model would be used for interpretation of the cultural heritage assets of Stolac using technological development as a bridge in between the asset and the visitor/citizen of/to Stolac, and between troublesome past and a brighter future.


Numbers of project activities are foreseen throughout the project implementation:
• A set of educational activities for young professionals from field of cultural heritage protection, tourist operators from Herzegovina region, pupils from primary and high schools in Stolac, local communities and families
• Producing smart phone application and brass rubbing models as cultural path through Stolac (augmented reality model)
• Restoration camp for students from Universities in Bosnia and Herzegovina
• Public discussions, promotional leaflets, and brochures, web site.
Educational workshop for young professionals from institutes for protection of cultural monuments, faculties and museums from BiH is scheduled for March 18 – 20, 2013.

The total project value is EUR 199.969,00 and approved implementation period for project “Bridges to the Future - Conservation, Science, Technology & Education in Stolac” is 15 months (01.11.2012. – 30.01.2014.)
